We want to make sure that you get the best experience from your visit at EngFest 3.
This list of frequently asked questions should help you plan your visit. If you have any further questions, please contact us at engfest@theiet.org.

 

What is EngFest?
EngFest is the IET's flagship STEM event, designed to teach 11-18 year olds more about the mind-blowing world of science and engineering.
The event aims to inform and inspire future generations by offering them the chance to take part in a series of engineering-themed workshops, get hands experience with new technologies on in our interactive technology showcase and hear talks from some of the world's most exciting and influential speakers at the cutting-edge of their fields.
Where is EngFest being held?
EngFest will take place at IET London: Savoy Place. Where possible we recommend travelling to IET London: Savoy Place via public transport. Detailed travel information can be found on the venue website.
What is the age range of EngVentures attendees?
EngVentures is aimed at children Key Stage 3 and 4.
What is the age range of FastForward attendees?
FastForward is aimed at school children aged 16-18 years.
Is lunch provided?
Students and accompanying staff should bring a packed lunch. Water will be available throughout the day.
Is there anywhere to leave bags/coats?
You will need to keep your bags with you at all times; we encourage you and your students to bring minimal possessions. Coat rails will be available.
 
EngVentures
What are the timings for EngVentures?
Registration is at 09:15 with the EngVentures starting at 10:00. The event is scheduled to finish at 16:00.
What is the format for the day?
The day will compromise a series of workshops, presentations and an interactive exhibition.
Do I need to book additionally for any workshops or presentations?
Your school group will be allocated a schedule for the day including a mixture of workshops and presentations. You do not need to book onto these activities.

If your group has attended any of the advertised workshops before please let us know and we will try to ensure you are allocated to a different workshop.
What do I do on arrival?  
Report to the registration desk in the venue lobby where you will be met by your allocated team member who will guide your group around the Festival.

A risk assessment will be available to download shortly.
 
FastForward
What are the timings for FastForward?
Registration is at 09:15 with the FastForward starting at 09:45. The event is scheduled to finish at 16:00.
What is the format for the day?  
The day will compromise a series of presentations and an interactive exhibition.
What do I do on arrival?  
The group leader should report to the registration desk in the venue lobby where you will be given your welcome pack to guide you around the festival.
Where can I download a risk assessment for EngFest 2.0?
A risk assessment will be available to download shortly.
 
Tickets
How do I get tickets?
Tickets were allocated via a ballot and the event is sold out. It is too late to get tickets but the presentations will be available to view post event online.

Will the event be streamed online?
The event will not be streamed live but speaker presentations at the event will be recorded and published on IET.tv post event, a link to the content will be sent to all ballot entrants.
The event was open to adults in previous years.Is this still the case?
No.  From 2019 the event will be aimed solely at 11-18 year olds as we believe this age group will benefit the most from the content. However, all the talks will be filmed and can be viewed online after the event via our IET.tv site
